Service, Cheesecake and the Great Mystery

Have you ever had one of those moments… when, for no obvious reason…everything became wonderfully simple?  Maybe you were walking in the woods…Listening to music…Holding a grandchild…Feeling great love…When all the usual chatter in your mind simply…stopped.

Many say these moments are some of the most alive and crucial moments of their lives.  And that they are at the core of religions and of the spiritual path.  Dr. Forman will explore how we can better connect with them in our daily lives and in our lives of service.

Dr. Robert Forman is a writer, speaker, and spiritual counselor who has spent his life exploring the mystical dimension of human experience. An interfaith minister, meditation teacher, and former hospital chaplain, he has taught internationally and founded the Forge Institute for Spirituality and Social Change.  He has given numerous sermons and workshops at Unitarian Universalist Churches around the Northeast.
His latest book, Christianity Reimagined: A Mystical Approach for Doubters and the Dubious, emerges from nine years of weekly church attendance that moved him deeply despite his skepticism about traditional doctrine. He shows how ritual, community, and contemplative practice can speak powerfully to believers and doubters alike.
Dr. Forman lives in the Berkshires with his wife of 51 years. He is a father, grandfather, guitarist, birder, and enthusiastic rider of his “big honkin’ motorcycle.”
