Reading Religion

Religion, in addition to inspiring, generally aims to provide solace, too. But what does it take for us to feel comforted? Is it the language used, the hymns, or the format of our services?  Why is newness discomfiting when we so often crave change? This sermon will reflect upon our needs for both tradition and accessibility.

The Reverend Andrea Greenwood served the First Parish of Watertown, Massachusetts in a variety of capacities for 25 years. She has been active in disability advocacy work and housing issues in the broader community and has a longstanding interest in religion and literature – especially children’s literature. She is planning to spend the spring making a cottage in Maine into a year round home!
